Who gets involved in a transaction?

A

Basically, you and the other person. The organisers and sponsors of ScriptSwap have provided the service for free and don’t have the time to vet each transaction. We put the "people who have" in touch with the "people who want", and it’s up to them to agree mutually acceptable terms. Payment methods could be, for example, PayPal, cheques, cash or Postal Orders. We accept we may have to get involved if there’s a dispute, but we really, really, really, really, really, really, really don’t want to; so please play nicely.

How do I use PayPal to buy or sell scripts? .

A

Log in to PayPal (or create and account if you don't have one). You will see tabs at the top for “Send Money” and ”Request Money”. If you are selling, for example, click on “Request” and it will ask you the for the other party's email address and the amount requested. It's that simple and gives you their payment protection as stated in their terms and conditions.

What happens if the scripts are not as described

A

As stated above, all we’re doing is providing introductions. It’s down to you to come to an acceptable transaction and to take whatever action necessary to ensure that it happens. That said, we will record any complaints and will cancel the membership of anyone found to be engaging in any kind of dishonourable practices. Should anyone be reported for trying to trade in illegal copies of scripts, we will take action as above and will also inform the relevant publishers and/or author for them to take whatever legal action they wish.

What sort of adverts can I place?

You can place two main types of advert - either you are looking to obtain scripts or you have scripts you want to make available.

What about charging for scripts?

A

If you have some scripts you want to make available to other people, you can choose to sell them, loan them for a fee, loan them for free or give them away.

What about carriage costs?

A

You can specify what extra costs are involved for postage, packing, pick up and so on. The transaction is between you and the other person, so it’s up to you to agree mutually acceptable terms or to walk away from the deal if you can’t.

What happens if I don’t want my contact details displayed?

A

There’s an option when you join to display or hide your contact details. People who display their contact details can expect to be contacted directly by anyone interested in their advert. Anyone who chooses the “hide” option will be notified (by an email from ScriptSwap) of the email address of whoever expresses and interest in their advert. In such a case it is then their responsibility to make contact and open up the conversation.
